Relevant agency warns on risk of infection with avian flu during Olympic Games in South Korea

Almaty. December 29. Silkroadnews - Rospotrebnadzor warned about risk of bird flu spread in South Korea during the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang from February 9 to 25, the Kazakh Telegraph Agency (KazTAG) reports with reference to the ministry’s press service.
Situation with avian influenza in South Korea is not stable at present. Since November of this year, a cases of avian influenza has been recorded in several poultry farms in both Northern and South Cholla Provinces, the report said.
The citizens planning a trip to South Korea have been recommended to get the necessary vaccinations, avoid contact with birds in households, markets, open water bodies, zoos, and immediately seek medical attention with the first signs of the disease.
Avian influenza H5N6 is an infectious disease of birds, in most cases the disease course is asymptomatic. The virus is able to overcome the species barrier and cause human diseases, usually in nasty form.
