Russian oil and gas company negotiates gas sale to Chinese company – mass-media
Almaty. April 7. Silkroadnews – “Rosneft” held several rounds of talks with the Chinese “Beijing Gas Group” to sell its pipeline gas to China, the newspaper “Vedomosti” writes.
The last of the rounds was held in mid-March during the visit of Igor Sechin, “Rosneft” president, in Beijing. The representative of the Russian company Mikhail Leontyev has not denied the fact of negotiations, yet did not give any comments in this regard. The Chinese company has not responded to the request, the newspaper said.
The point in case is about transportation of fuel through the “Power of Siberia” pipeline constructed by “Gazprom”. Possible price will hardly be lower than that one of the Russian gas monopolist, yet cheaper to compare with the price of the US LNG. Resource supply base can be made of Srednebotuobinskoye, Verkhnechonskoye or Yurubcheno-Tokhomskoye fields of “Rosneft”.
“Beijing Gas Group” does not buy gas from “Gazprom”, though these negotiations have been conducted previously. Instead it purchases gas from “CNPC”, with which back in 2014 “Gazprom” signed a 30-year contract for the supply of 38 billion cubic meters of gas per year for a total amount of $400 billion. According to I. Sechin, “Rosneft” is ready to deliver from 2 billion to 30 billion cubic meters of gas via “Power of Siberia”. By 2030, his company plans to produce 45 billion cubic meters of gas in Eastern Siberia.
