Sales of electric and hybrid vehicles in China grow by one-fifth

Almaty. September 6. Silkroadnews - Sales of electric and hybrid vehicles in China increased by one fifth, information portal GBTimes reported.
“Sales of new energy vehicles in China rose to 251,000 in the period between January and July, representing a year-on-year increase of 21.5 percent”, report said.
It is noted that the number of electric vehicles sold increased by more than a third, while sales of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles dropped by 12.8% compared to 2016, to 47,000. In total, in the first half of this year 15,3 million automobiles were sold in China, which is a 4.1% growth in sales.
“The number of new energy vehicles purchased in July accounted for nearly a quarter of the total recorded in 2017 thus far. There were 45,000 all-electric vehicles sold, meaning sharp year-on-year growth of 55.2 percent. Furthermore, 12,000 plug-in hybrid electric vehicles were sold during the same month”, publication reads.
According to the report, China seeks to ensure to have 2 million electric vehicles and hybrid cars on the country’s roads by 2020.
