Sales of excavators in China doubled in June
Beijing. Jul 9. Silkroadnews - Excavator sales by major manufacturers in China continued to show double-digit growth in June, though the pace was slower than the previous month, SINA.com reports referring to the industry data.
The country’s 25 leading manufacturers of excavators sold 14,188 digging machines in June, which is 58.8% growth year on year, compared to 71.3% growth in May, according to the China Construction Machinery Association.
In the mainland China there were more than 12,400 machines sold, up 51.4% year on year. Overseas sales grew 143.7% to more than 1,700 vehicles.
Combined sales in January-June continued to be stable, increasing 60% compared to the same period last year, reaching 120,123 excavators, which almost corresponds to growth of 60.2% for the period from January to May.
Sales of digging machines are an indicator of economic power, as demand is usually backed by growth in the mining industry and infrastructure.
In June, the manufacturing purchasing power index of the country made 51.5, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
Though the reading is less than 51.9 in May, it still surpassed an average of 51.3 for the first half of the year, which indicates an increase in production activity.
