For example, according to the agreements in 2001, 50% of Talas river is given to the Kazakhstan, 52% of Chu water is given to Kyrgyzstan, and 48% to Kazakhstan. However, it all depends on the negotiations and projections on the water", - the ministry said.
The department also reported that the volume of one of the major reservoirs in the north - Ortho-Tokoy, significantly decreased compared to the previous year.
"At the moment we hoard water in Ortho-Tokoy reservoir. On March 18, the volume was 30 million cubic meters less than the same date last year. At present, the amount is 370 million cubic meters, the total capacity is 450 million", - noted in the department.
Ortho-Tokoy reservoir located 2 kilometers from the village of Ortho-Tokoy Naryn region of Kyrgyzstan. It was built in 1960 on the Chu River for the purpose of reclamation of nearby areas. Note that Ortho-Tokoy Kirov reservoir supply irrigation water to Kazakhstan.
