Almaty. June 9. Silkroadnews - Solutions for mutually beneficial division of water resources in Central Asia were not found, says UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
"There is a danger that the risk of conflicts related to water resources among various water users will increase. It is not possible to find regional solutions that would dispose the water resources in a mutually beneficial basis",- said Ban Ki-moon in an interview with the news center and the UN Radio.
He noted that the demand for water resources in Central Asia will only increase.
"The situation with the water resources in the Central Asian region is difficult. These resources are limited and the demand expected in the coming years will only grow",- said Ban Ki-moon.
In addition, he said, that the melting of glaciers in Central Asia may result in a more complex environmental problem than the shallowing of the Aral Sea.
In his opinion, to solve the problems needed the cooperation of all the Central Asian states.
