South Korea will provide $120 million financial aid to Afghanistan
Almaty. October 6. Silkroadnews – The Republic of Korea will allocate $120 million to Afghanistan's economic recovery and social programs, Afghan news agency (AfTAG) reports.
«The Government of the Republic of Korea has developed a four-year plan providing for $30 million to be allocated for these purposes on an annual basis», the head of the South Korean Foreign Ministry Yun Byung-se said at the conference in Brussels.
This amount will make 0.78% of the total annual international aid allocated to Afghanistan.
Yun Byung-Se also stressed the importance of establishing the sustainable peace in the country, for which «it is necessary to intensify the efforts to strengthen security, economic development and protection of human rights».
The conference devoted to Afghanistan’s reconstruction gathered representatives of 75 countries and 25 humanitarian organizations. The participants agreed to keep the financial aid to the country at the current level till 2020.
