Southern region of Kazakhstan plans to reduce water dependence of Kyrgyzstan
Astana. October 10. Silkroadnews - Akim of Zhambyl region Kokrekbaev Karim said that the region is going to reduce water dependence on Kyrgyzstan, informs KazTAG.
"Zhambyl region is 80% dependent on neighboring Kyrgyzstan. In order to reduce the water dependence, the national program for water resources management in Kazakhstan for 2014-2020 provides construction of 4 small water reservoirs and reconstruction of 5 projects worth 25 billion tenge in the period of 2015-2018",- he said at a briefing in Astana on Friday.
According to K. Kokrekbaeva to accelerate the development of agriculture in the region was made a proposal to the government to assist in rescheduling the construction of three small reservoirs in Kordai and Merke areas, renovation of the reservoir with the repair of head water reservoir assembly, and construction of the main canal.
"The total value of the project will amount to 14.8 billion tenge in 2015-2016", - he concluded.
