Strengthening the comprehensive Chinese-Uzbek cooperation serves two countries’ interests – Xi Jinping

Almaty. June 22. Silkroadnews – Prior to the state visit to Uzbekistan and participation in the 16th meeting of the Council of Heads of States of the SCO, Chinese President Xi Jinping published in Uzbek media his article “Open a new bright page of Chinese-Uzbek friendship”, Chinese media reported.

“Today the international situation experiences deep changes, global economic recovery started cooling down, all the countries of the world face not an easy task of internal development. Under these conditions strengthening the all-round Chinese-Uzbek cooperation meets the exigencies of modern times and corresponds to the fundamental interests of two countries and their peoples. We have both the desire and confidence for the joint development and prosperity of China and Uzbekistan to grow and become more successful,” China’s leader said.

According to him the countries “need to strengthen political mutual trust and mutual support”.

“We should fulfill the task of jointly building “the Silk Road Economic Belt” and “the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road” based on mutual benefit and interest. Along with the energy cooperation it is necessary to expand cooperation in non-oil sector, improve trade and economic structure, create favorable conditions for trade and economic relations between two countries. It is important to seek for the touch points and deepen cooperation especially in high-tech sectors of the economy, continue to proceed with implementation of mutually beneficial projects, promote mutual investments,” Xi Jinping said.

Also, the parties, according to the head of China should strengthen strategic coordination on international affairs, deepen coordination in the UN, SCO and other multilateral formats.

“We shall strongly support each other’s constructive initiatives on the international arena, exchange timely views on such topics as global economic governance, energy security, water resources, etc., as well as on relevant topics in the regional agenda, in particular, the situation in Afghanistan, Middle East and North Africa, defend together the strategic interests of our countries,” said Xi Jinping.

China, he added, supports growing of Uzbekistan’s role in international affairs.
