Tajikistan and Pakistan will agree on terms of energy bridge construction CASA-1000

Almaty. January 11. Silkroadnews – On January 11 Tajikistan wellcomes the delegation headed by Khawaja Muhammad Asif, the Federal Minister for Water and Power of Pakistan, to carry out 2-day meeting of the joint commission to discuss the details of project on the flow of electricity from Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan to Afghanistan and Pakistan (CASA- 1000), TajikTA  reports.
“During the joint commission meeting in Dushanbe Tajikistan and Pakistan are intended to determine the dates of launch and completion of the project to build the power transmission lines CASA-1000”, the publication informs.
In particular, it is planned to discuss the construction of 500 kV transmission line from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to Pakistan via Afghanistan with a total project cost of more than $1 billion. This line is planned to export 300 MW of electricity from Kyrgyzstan and 1000 MW from Tajikistan to Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Feasibility study of the project has been completed.
The project for construction of the Tajik section of the energy bridge is scheduled to begin in May. The Pakistani Prime Minister, Mr.Nawaz Sharif is expected to take part in the opening ceremony for the project development.
The agency reminds the final agreement for CASA-1000 project, accordng to which Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan shall annually supply electricity to Afghanistan and Pakistan to the amount of 1,300 MW, was signed in Turkey in November 2015.
