Tajikistan and the World Bank discussed the project on disaster risk management

Almaty. February 29. Silkroadnews - Tajikistan and the World Bank (WB) discussed the implementation of the project on disaster risk management, Tajik Telegraph Agency (TajikTA) reported on Monday.
    “In Dushanbe, the head of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan Abdusalom Qurboniyon at the meeting with representatives of the World Bank headed by Joaquin Toro discussed the implementation of mechanisms, structures and components of disaster risk management project,” - says the publication.
The parties agreed to the project schedule, as well as its implementation order by the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Transport and the Agency for Irrigation and Land Reclamation under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan. The potential investment subprojects have also been considered within the context of this plan.
As TajikTA reminds, on February 12, 2016, the head of the Ministry of Finance of Tajikistan and Patricia Veevers-Carter, the World Bank Country Manager for Tajikistan, signed an agreement on the financing of the regional part of “Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Program for Aral Sea Basin” (CAMP4ASB), providing Tajikistan with $9 million funding from the International Development Association (IDA) funds.
Under the new program, the rural communities will be provided with funding to address the current threats to agricultural production and livelihoods, arising from the climate risks.
91 thousand of people in Tajikistan are expected to take the advantage of these projects.
