Tajikistan builds 310 micro hydropower stations, does not use 300 of them

Dushanbe. May 21. Silkroadnews – Out of 310 micro hydropower stations that Tajikistan built over the years, 300 does not comply to international standards, as Tajik Communist Party Leader Shodi Shabdolov said at the working session of lower chamber of Parliament. The MPs were discussing ratification of the grant agreement “On access to green finance between Tajikistan and Asian Development Bank (ADB)”
Grant agreement “On access to green finance” stipulates USD 11.8 mln are to be granted to Tajikistan for development of alternative energy resources and technologies.
Tajik Government intends to sign similar agreement with the World Bank in 2014. The WB agreement is to grant USD 22 mln.
