Tajikistan considers introduction of an alternative to military service

Almaty. April 27. Silkroadnews – Tajik authorities consider an option of introducing an alternative to military service, the Tajik Telegraph Agency (TajikTA) reported on Wednesday.
The government of Tajikistan considers a draft for the alternative service in the Armed Forces proposed by the Ministry of Defense, as it was reported at the session of the Majlisi namoyandagon (lower house of parliament).
According to Defense Minister Sherali Mirzo, it is the government that will take the final decision on introducing an alternative to military service.
Deputies of the lower house of parliament approved amendments to the law “On universal military duty” raising the retirement age of the military.
