Tajikistan expects poverty reduction to 27.3% by 2017 – WB

Almaty. November 15. Silkroadnews – Tajikistan expects to get poverty reduction to 27.3% by 2017, the forecast by the World Bank (WB) says.

“Tajikistan experiences a weakening of growth in gross domestic product (GDP). With this the projection still says the poverty rate would decline to 27.3% by 2017”, Tajik TAG reports with reference to the World Bank’s data.

The document states that against the background of internal and external pressures growing, the elimination of financial risks and implementation of reforms directed to improve productivity, competitiveness and strengthening of social protection systems will be of crucial importance for poverty reduction in Tajikistan.
