Tajikistan in the current year will repay to Uzbekistan $8 million of public debt

Almaty. January 23. Silkroadnews - Tajikistan plans to repay $8 million state debt to Uzbekistan this year, reported  the Tajik news agency (TajikTA) with reference to the Deputy Minister of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan Shaukat Sohibov.
Previously, the total size of the national debt to Uzbekistan was $200 million. According to the financial department of the RT, in 2014, the country has paid off the national debt to Belarus and the European Commission in the amount of more than $5.5 million.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the total external debt of Tajikistan at the beginning of January 2015 amounted to $2.1 billion. This figure is 22.5% of GDP, which corresponds to external debt management strategy.
Last year, the external debt of Tajikistan decreased by $106.3 million, as compared with the beginning of 2014.
