Beijing. February 9. Silkroadnews - Tajikistan opened the border with Kyrgyzstan, the Kyrgyz Telegraph Agency (KyrTAG) reported with reference to the border guard’s press service on Friday.
Following the talks between the border guards’ representatives of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, the Tajik side opened a transit across the bridge in Sai, Leylek district, Batken region. The Tajik border guards left the area. Admittances of people, vehicles and cargo have been resumed at the checkpoints “Kulundu-road” and “Kayragach-road” at the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border. To remind, on February 8, the Tajik side unilaterally suspended the work of two out of five border checkpoints on the border with Kyrgyzstan and closed the bridge crossing in the village of Sai, Batken region. The motivation behind these actions was that the Kyrgyz people built a bridge for schoolchildren on the disputed stretch of the border through the Sada Canal.
