Tajikistan realizes 7 energy projects to more than $900 million
Almaty. January 3. Silkroadnews - Seven energy investment projects worth over $900 million are being realized in Tajikistan, the Tajik Telegraph Agency (TajikTA) reports on Wednesday.
“Seven state energy investment projects worth 8.1 billion somoni ($918.3 million) are implemented in Tajikistan,” the country’s energy ministry said.
The projects provide for restoration of the republic’s energy system and creation of the infrastructure required for electricity export.
According to the source, the point in case is about the reconstruction of hydroelectric stations, substations and power transmission lines. The major part of the works is carried out using the investment funds, that is, credit and grant infusions.
The energy sector officials also say about projects developed for the reconstruction of existing power plants, which requires large investments.
To date, the funding sources have been determined to implement the projects on some major hydroelectric power stations. In particular, a project for the modernization of the Nurek hydropower station has been developed in two stages with attracting $700 million. The first stage is scheduled to start this year.
The Kayrakkum HPP is one of the oldest power plants and has been in operation since 1957. 600 million somoni have been raised for reconstruction works also to begin this year.
