Tajikistan’s coal production increased by 267 000 tonnes

Almaty. October 25. Silkroadnews – In October coal production in Tajikistan grew by 267 thousand tonnes year-on-year, Tajik Telegraph Agency (TajikTA) reports on Wednesday.
“Tajik coal producers have set another record: since the beginning of the year they have produced 1 million 384 thousand tonnes of coal, which is 267 thousand tonnes more compared to the same period of 2016, or 21 thousand tonnes more compared to the whole last year,” the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan reported.
There are 20 enterprises operating in coal mining in Tajikistan.
According to the ministry, there are 230 enterprises that use coal as a fuel in the country. The major buyer of the coal produced in the country is the Dushanbe TPP-2 accounting for more than 50% of the total.
Currently, about 90% of Tajikistan’s coal needs are closed through domestic extraction.
