Tajikistan's Foreign Ministry propose to eliminate barriers to intra-regional trade and transit in Afghanistan

Almaty. October 5. Silkroadnews – Tajikistan requests to provide the security of transport corridors in Afghanistan and eliminate the barriers to free trade and transit within the country, Tajik Telegraph Agency (TajikTA) reported on Wednesday.

As noted, yesterday in Brussels on the eve of the international conference on Afghanistan, Foreign Minister of Tajikistan Sirodjiddin Aslov drew the attention of the conference participants to the issue of effective measures to ensure the security of transport corridors in Afghanistan and elimination of barriers to intra-regional trade and transit that would meet the interests of the Afghan people and contribute to the region's economic prosperity.

During the meeting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan and the participants exchanged views on the resettlement of infrastructure, transit and regional trade, and their role in ensuring peace and stability in Afghanistan, reviewed the country's socio-economic recovery issues within the context of strengthening regional cooperation.

S. Aslov noted Tajikistan's efforts in implementation of regional infrastructure projects in energy, transport and communication sectors, construction of hydroelectric power plants and cross-border markets creation.

On October 5 Brussels hosts the international conference «Partnership for Prosperity and Peace» with participation of delegations from 70 countries and 30 international organizations and institutions to provide financial assistance to contribute to reconstruction of Afghanistan within the next 4 years.
