Tajikistan’s foreign trade turnover grew 33.5% in 4 months

Beijing. May 18. Silkroadnews - Tajikistan’s foreign trade turnover amounted to $1.395 billion for the first four months of this year, which is 33.5% more compared to the same period of last year, the Tajik Telegraph Agency (TajikTA) reports on Friday.
According to the statistics agency under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, in January-April this year the turnover grew by $350 million compared year-on-year.
Export of goods amounted to $332 million, which is almost 12% ($35 million) more than in January-April last year.
The import of products over four months has reached $1.62 billion.
Compared with the same period of 2017, the volume of imports increased 42% ($315 million), the trade balance deficit in January-April this year made $731.
The ratio of imports to exports decreased from 39.7% last year to 31.2% this year.
Russia is still the major trade partner of Tajikistan: Tajikistan-Russia trade turnover in January-April this year amounted to more than $310 million.
Top three major trade partners of the republic also include Kazakhstan ($268 million) and China ($202 million).
