Tajikistan’s foreign trade volume fell almost 8% for ten months

Almaty. November 16. Silkroadnews – In ten months Tajikistan’s foreign trade volume decreased by almost 8% on a year-on-year basis, Tajik news agency (TajikTA) reported on Wednesday.

“For ten months of the year Tajikistan’s foreign trade volume turnover amounted to around $3.2 billion, which is 7.8% or $275 million lower compared to the same period of last year”, the statement said.

Reduction in foreign trade turnover volume comes due to reduction in imports of goods.

For ten months of the year the republic has got imported products worth about $2.5 billion, which is 10.2% ($283 million) lower on a year-on-year basis.

The reduction is observed, in particular, in imports of precious and semi-precious stones and metals (by 85%), coats and skins (by 40%), wood and wood products (by 39%), prepared foods (by 26%), vegetable products (by 23%), mineral products (by 20%).

At the same time Tajikistan has increased its exports by 1.1% or $7.7 million. Since the beginning of the year the Tajik exported goods totaled $744 million. Export of finished food products grew by 75%, mineral products by 45%, electricity by 9.5%. The export of cotton fiber decreased by 8%, and non-precious metals and products declined by 2.8%.
