Almaty. February 17. Silkroadnews – Tajikistan’s policemen and military forces have been included into group of the risk of extremism propaganda, TajikTA reports.

“Law enforcement officers and military personnel in Tajikistan are at a particular risk of getting infected with the extremist propaganda. The vulnerability of the security forces is that by the nature of their work these people often face the extremists, their literature and propaganda”, the republic’s national strategy to combat extremism and terrorism for 2016-2020 says.

Among the factors boosting the extremist attitudes among the law enforcement officers and military personnel there are also unfair treatment by the seniors, dissatisfaction with one’s work, harassment among servicemen, housing and family problems, frailty, weaknesses of political and educational work, the document says.

“Despite all the activities by the Tajik authorities, the extremist ideology is becoming more widespread among the population. Radicalism attracts not only representatives of the lower classes and uneducated poor people, but also representatives of the state’s power structures assigned to fight the terrorism”, it is said in the document.

The agency reminds, back in 2015, the chief of riot police detachment (OMON) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan colonel Gulmurod Halimov escaped to abroad and joined the militants of the terrorist organization “Islamic State”. In September 2016 armed rebellion led by Major General Abduhalim Nazarzoda, who served Deputy Minister of Defense of Tajikistan, was joined by several officers of the republic’s defense ministry.
