Tajikistan to assemble “Belarus” tractors for Afghanistan

Almaty. May 23. Silkroadnews – Tajikistan intends to assemble “Belarus” cotton tractors; the assembly workshop is planned to be opened on the border with Afghanistan, Afghan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG) reports.
The assembly production will allow reducing products costs for farmers, Dushanbe officials suggest. President Emomali Rahmon instructed to intensify work with the Minsk plant in this direction.
The workshop, estimated by Tajik partners at $7-8 million, as planned, will be opened on the border with Afghanistan, where Tajikistan is going to export the assembled tractors. In its turn the Belarusian enterprise is ready to start working over the project as soon as possible, the general director of OJSC “MTZ” Fyodor Domotenko said. “We are ready to consider various issues on assembly and further localization of production. We will also provide a full engineering support to organize the assembly”, he said.
Currently 26 thousand tractors are operated in the fields of Tajikistan, among them more than a half are the Belarusian ones.
