Beijing. June 25. Silkroadnews - After putting into operation a new metallurgical enterprise of CJSC TALCO Gold in Ayni district, Sogd region, Tajikistan, is expected to produce 1.5 tonnes of gold and 16 tonnes of antimony by the beginning of 2020, the Tajik Telegraph Agency (TajikTA) reports on Monday.
The enterprise is planned to be built within one and a half years on the basis of the Konchoc Mineral Mine, consisting of three sections of Chulboi, Konchoch and Shakhkon.
As noted, the mine is reported to have reserves of five chemical elements, including gold and antimony, as basic, as well as silver, mercury and fluorite, as additional components of production. Tajikistan extracts and processes all the minerals mentioned, with gold, silver and antimony produced as final products, that is, in the form of metal.
With the commissioning of the new enterprise mentioned, Tajikistan may become the world’ third producer of antimony after China and Russia. The total reserves of industrial and non-industrial antimony are estimated at 265 thousand tonnes and gold - at 50 tonnes. The numbers can be significantly higher in the course of exploratory geological work, the report says.
