Almaty. July 20. Silkroadnews – Tatarstan’s President Rustam Minnikhanov said he would consider possibility of oil products exporting through Iran to Turkmenistan and Afghanistan, Afghan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG) reports.
During his visit to Tatarstan the governor of the Khorasan Razavi Iranian province Alireza Rashidian made an appropriate proposition. “Indeed, for petroleum products we need to look at the cost, we will work on this”, R. Minnikhanov told journalists, answering TASS question.
A.Rashidian suggested the authorities of Tatarstan to consider this possibility, as the province borders on Afghanistan and Turkmenistan. Also this year Khorasan Razavi plans putting into operation oil pumping station. The governor also said, Tatarstan’s technologies in the oil sector are of interest to Iran. “Drilling methods used by Tatarstan are of great interest for our country”, he said.
According to the ministry of industry and trade of Tatarstan, at present the republic does not supply oil and petroleum products to Iran. The major export item is wood, wood products and charcoal. For the first quarter of 2017, the foreign trade turnover of Iran and Tatarstan amounted to $3.4 million (for 2016 it amounted to $13.3 million), with Iran’s share in the foreign trade turnover of Tatarstan making 0.13796.
As “Kommersant” newspaper reports, last year Tatarstan produced 35.5 million tonnes of oil, of which over 17.3 million tonnes were processed.
