Almaty. February 11. Silkroadnews - Tehran hopes that the supply of Russian anti-aircraft missile system S-300 to Iran will be implemented during the current year, reports IrTAG referring to Iran's Ambassador to the Russian Federation Mehdi Sanai during a press conference in Moscow.
As previously reported, in January of this year, Iran and Russia signed an agreement on further strengthening of  bilateral cooperation in defense and military-technical sphere. Tehran and Moscow has also resumed bilateral talks on possible deliveries of S-300 to the Islamic republic.
It should be noted that in 2007, Iran signed a contract worth $800 million for the purchase of five Russian S-300. In 2010, in the background of international sanctions against Iran, Russia refused the deal, then Tehran decided to develop a domestic counterpart. Last summer, the Iranian authorities announced the successful completion of the tests of domestic analogue S-300, called Bavar-373. However, Tehran has repeatedly stated that Moscow expects a speedy fulfillment of the signed contract on S-300.
