Tehran runs into protests over failing economy
Beijing. June 26. Silkroadnews - Social protests started in Tehran, caused by the rise in price of goods and a sharp devaluation of the rial, the Iranian Telegraph Agency (IrTAG) reports referring to the Western media.
Demonstrators called on the Ayatollah regime to invest into the economy, not interfere in the affairs of other Middle East countries. Protesters gathered in the streets, shopping malls and have confronted the police in front of the parliament in Tehran, the Associated Press reports. According to the BBC, thousands of protesters came out to the streets, the police used tear gas against the demonstrators.
To remind, a wave of protests against the rising prices and Iranian rial dropping run in Tehran, some observers and analysts said these protests have been the largest since 2012.
