Tehran urges Jakarta to cooperate in the fight against terrorism

Almaty. March 16. Silkroadnews - Tehran urges Jakarta to cooperate more closely in the fight against terrorism, informs the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG) on Monday.
"Iran and Indonesia serve as two leading states of the Muslim world, which suffered heavy losses in the fight against extremism and terrorism", - said in the publication with reference to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.
The head of Iran at a meeting with the special envoy of the President of Indonesia, former Foreign Minister Alwi Shihab expressed the opinion that Tehran and Jakarta should strengthen bilateral cooperation in countering terrorism, as well as in preventing the growth of violence in different parts of the world by promoting the principles and ideas of "present, moderate Islam".
H.Rouhani called for further expansion of the mutually beneficial relationship based on common cultural and historical values ​​of the peoples of both countries.
Special attention was given to the interlocutors on expanding and deepening of economic ties.
For its part, the special envoy of Indonesian President expressed his country's interest in giving additional impetus to the development of relations with the Islamic Republic over the entire spectrum of bilateral cooperation.
He handed the Iranian leader a letter from the President of Indonesia Joko Widodo with an invitation to visit Jakarta to participate in the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Asian-African Conference, which will take place in this Asian country from 19 to 24 April.
