Textile industry of Uzbekistan attracted $2.5 bn foreign investments in 20 years period
Almaty. July 28. Silkroadnews - In 20 years the textile industry of Uzbekistan has attracted $2.5 bn foreign investments, reports the Uzbekistan Telegraph Agency (UzTAG).
"The textile industry of Uzbekistan attracts interest of foreign investors. Since 1995 $2.5 bn tenge have been invested in the field. Today more than 200 companies with foreign capital work in the state, the proportion of their products is over 80%," the message reports.
According to David Lee, UN expert of industrial development, Uzbekistan takes solid positions in the field of cotton production, it exports a part of its crude products, while the major part goes for domestic processing.
"The state dynamically develops light industry and creates additional work places. Investments are beneficial in Uzbekistan, as favorable investment climate has been created there, there are huge opportunities for production with high added cost and export," he said.
The volume of export of textile industry from Uzbekistan amounted to $1 bn last year. This year it is expected to make $1.1 bn. The products are imported to more than 50 states, including the states of EU, CIS, Latin America, South Korea, China, Singapore, Iran, Israel, the US and other states.
