The defense ministers of Iran and Iraq discussed bilateral cooperation

Almaty. December 31. Silkroadnews - Iranian Defense Minister Hussein Dehkan met with his Iraqi counterpart, Khaled al-Obeidi, which emphasized the need for enhanced cooperation between the two countries in the field of security,  reported the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG).
During the meeting in Tehran the Iranian Defense Minister noted that support for the unity and territorial integrity of Iraq, the spread of democracy on the basis of the mechanisms provided in the constitution, security and assistance to comprehensive progress in Iraq is a principled policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
However H.Dehkan emphasized that achieving full of peace and harmony on Iraqi soil, requires strict compliance with the interests of all ethnic and religious groups living in the country.
In turn, the Minister of Defense of Iraq has noted a sufficiently high level of cooperation between the two countries in the field of safety and security, and reiterated the readiness of the Iraqi side to further expand cooperation with Iran in this direction. At the same time, he expressed his gratitude to the leadership and people of Iran for effective support to Baghdad in the eradication of terrorism and extremism in the country.
