The devaluation of the Kazakh national currency impacted the production volumes of Kyrgyz enterprises, the government believes

Almaty. February11. Silkroadnews – The Kyrgyz enterprises’ outputs fell due to the devaluation of the Kazakhstani currency, KyrTAG quotes the Vice Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Oleg Pankratov saying.  
“I have been to the Issyk-Kul region with a business trip recently. There is a company “Ak Zhalga” producing cheese. Their products are quite popular in the domestic market, yet Almaty (Kazakhstan) used to be their primary sales market and in comparison to the previous years, as caused by our neighbors’ currency devaluation, their sales volumes decreased dramatically. That is why for them the priority issue was to enter the market with higher purchasing power. Through their example may say the volumes they lose in Kazakhstan can be recovered with entry to the market of Russia,” - said O. Pankratov during the press conference.
He also noted that the Kyrgyz entrepreneurs have all the prerequisites to be competitive in the Russian market with those characteristics of production they have at present.
“We are all aware the demand has decreased. If consider the situation as a whole in terms of GDP per capita, comparing the consumer characteristics of the domestic market and Kazakhstani and Russian markets, we will see that despite the devaluation experienced by our neighbors, we are still at the lower stage. Kazakhstan stays slightly ahead of us, Russia is even in a better position, thus, their consumer demand is higher to compare with ours,” - the Vice Prime Minister said.
He noted that as of February 8, 2016, 15 largest enterprises of Kyrgyzstan receive the permission to supply products to the Russian market. Prior to this only 8 companies were allowed to supply their products to the adjacent regions of Kazakhstan only.
“If our businesses comply with all the requirements, there will be no problem, yet if we start trying to sell there products that are dangerous in some degree, then, unfortunately, it is very easy to be deleted from the register we now included in,” - he concluded.
