Almaty. August 7. Silkroadnews - Officials from the European Union (EU) demand that both presidential candidates in Afghanistan, Abdullah Abdullah and Ashraf Ghani certainly to recognize the results of the audit of the voting process, according to Afghan News Agency (AfTAG).
EU Special Envoy for Afghanistan, Franz-Michael Skold Mellbin noted that the people of Afghanistan are awaiting approval of the audit results by both candidates.
In a letter to both presidential candidates Australia, the EU and Canada expressed their concern about the audit process and the candidates were asked to adhere to the agreement of the government of national unity, to which they came last month with the help of Secretary of United States John Kerry.
"We are concerned that the political process and the audit does not come on, and so we want to send a signal to both candidates that they move forward on negotiations and political audit", - quotes agency S.Mellbin.
"I think the Afghan people should be sure that both candidates respect the results of elections and the voice of the Afghan people, and they must publicly declare that they will respect the audit and its results", - quotes the words of Tolo Channel.
The White House also called on the candidates to cooperate with the auditors. "Secretary J. Kerry called Abdullah Abdullah and Ashraf Ghani, to encourage them to continue to participate in the vote counting process, which were obtained in the national elections", - said White House spokesman Josh Ernest.
Staff members of Abdullah Abdullah added that both teams will release a joint statement.
"Transcript of the plan has been sent to us, the plan is still under development, we hope that the two sides will issue a joint declaration on the nature of the nation and the unity government", - said Abdullah team member Mudzhiburrahman Rahimi.
Recall that more than three weeks ago, the presidential candidates were deadlocked in their opposition. Then, the candidates agreed on a comprehensive audit of the votes and a government of national unity after the elections. In addition, the candidates agreed to continue discussions on a range of policy and technical issues.
