Almaty. April 4. Silkroadnews - On Friday during the briefing within the framework of participation in the Nuclear Security Summit in Washington president of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev said about the discussions held with the European Council and the European Commission leaders on the EU and the EEU future prospects, the press service of the head of state informs.

“This is a sophisticated issue. Many people in the west question the establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union. Some people think that this is a project is aimed at reviving the USSR. Therefore, I proposed to have a joint conference of the organizations, so politicians and experts could bring light into this issue and we could conduct mutual trade. Presently, we have several obstacles that do not allow us to do it. In particular, it is the sanctions of the West exposed on Russia. However, if the EU, EEU and SCO open a free trade zone in future it will be beneficial for entire Eurasia,” the press service quoted Nazarbayev in information posted on the Akorda website.

During the briefing, Nursultan Nazarbayev outlined the main topics of the summit held in Washington. The head of state stressed the importance of countering terrorism and preventing nuclear weapons falling into the hands of extremists. He also paid attention to the importance of ensuring the security of facilities using the nuclear energy.
