Almaty. May 11. Silkroadnews – The leaders of NATO countries will discuss the issue of sending additional troops to Afghanistan at the Brussel summit on May 25, the Afghan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG) reports.
“We will consider the issue of our presence in Afghanistan at the meeting of the alliance leaders, and also discuss how NATO can intensify its efforts to combat terrorism, including supporting the coalition that opposes the Islamic state terrorist group”, Press Association quoted NATO’s Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg saying.
The Secretary General also stressed that “the mission scale decision will not mean a return to military operation” in the country.
Earlier NBC reported with reference to representatives of the US Department of Defense, that the US President Donald Trump considers possibility of sending additional 5,000 troops to Afghanistan.
