The level of poverty in Uzbekistan in 2016 will decrease to 13.7% - the head of the Ministry of Economy

Almaty. May 4. Silkroadnews - Uzbekistan until the end of 2015 will reduce the level of poverty of the population to 13.7% of the total number of citizens, reported UzTAG citing Economy Minister Galina Saidova.
The report states that during 2001-2013 years the level of poverty in Uzbekistan has been reduced by 1.9 times - from 27.5% to 14.1% of the total population. At the end of 2015 this figure will be 13.7%. Indicators of poverty in rural areas decreased from 30.5% to 17.3% in urban areas - from 22.5% to 10.6%.
"The government of Uzbekistan, despite all the difficulties associated with the instability of the global economy, managed to fulfill a number of obligations after the Republic signed the Millennium Declaration in 2000", - said Mrs. Saidova.
According to the minister, the key instruments for implementing policies to reduce the proportion of poverty were structural reforms in the economy, the implementation of targeted social and regional development programs, the creation of conditions for private businesses.
According to official statistics, the number of permanent population of Uzbekistan as of January 1, 2015 amounted to 31.025 million people (+ 1.7% compared with the beginning of 2014).
