The meeting of the SCO Foreign Ministers Council will be held in Tashkent in late May

Almaty. May 13. Silkroadnews – The meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will be held in Tashkent on May 23-24, Trend reports.

The foreign ministers will discuss the preparations for the SCO summit to be held in Tashkent on June 23-24, the publication states.

The ministers will discuss the draft documents and decisions to be submitted to the Council of Heads of the SCO member states. In particular, the point is case is about the Tashkent Declaration of the SCO 15th anniversary, 2016-2020 action plan on implementation of the SCO’s development strategy until 2025, as well as a number of projects aimed to facilitate the cooperation in the fight against terrorism, extremism, organized crime, drug trafficking.

In accordance with the decision on the SCO expansion, the foreign ministers will also consider the progress on India and Pakistan admission procedures to the membership in the organization.

The SCO members are China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran, Mongolia have observer status, the dialogue partners – Azerbaijan, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Armenia, Cambodia and Nepal.
