The number of refugees from Syria can reach 15 million in the near future - a representative of the UN Secretary General

Astana. October 19. Silkroadnews - President of the Senate of Parliament of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev met with the representative of the UN Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Abdullah Al-Matuku, transmits the press service of the upper house.
"Playing a significant role in regional security, Kazakhstan has greatly expanded international cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, which was expressed in assistance to Afghanistan, Syria, Pakistan, Central Asia and a number of other states",  - K. Tokayev said.
It is proposed to expand the activities of the humanitarian agencies of the United Nations on the basis of a regional hub in Almaty. K. Tokayev also told the representative of the United Nations about reforms in the country.
In turn, Abdullah Al-Matuku conveyed the good wishes of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
The representative of the UN Secretary-General reported on preparations for the fourth conference of donors to help Syria. Abdullah Al-Matuku, who is also a freelance adviser to the Emir of Kuwait, believes that in the near future the number of refugees from Syria can reach 15 million.
The two sides stressed the importance of strengthening the leading role of this universal Organization in the settlement of topical international problems.
