Almaty. August 28. Silkroadnews - The number of victims of the Ebola virus outbreak in West Africa has reached 1 552, infected 3069 people - reported ITAR-TASS with reference to the World Health Organization (WHO).
As noted earlier, on August 23 in its report WHO reported 2 615 infected and 1 427 victims of Ebola. It was noted that only in 2 days in Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria, died 77 people.
WHO had previously requested for the fight against Ebola $100 million, declaring the outbreak as a threat to international health.
Recall fever outbreak was registered in March in Guinea. Later, the disease spread to Liberia and Sierra Leone. These countries are still fix new infections. Case of infection with Ebola was reported in Hong Kong. A state of emergency due to illness was announced in Nigeria, Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
WHO recognizes Ebola as emergency of global significance. Fever is highly contagious, moreover, the countries where it has spread, have very poorly developed health care system.
At the moment, vaccine from fever does not exist, but one of the experimental drugs have shown positive results. We are talking about the drug Zmapp. Three doctors who started to give medication, noticed signs of recovery. But experts say that it is too early to talk about the effectiveness of the drug.
