The regular meeting of the Council of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure council to be held in China in September

Almaty. March 31. Silkroadnews – The draft convention on countering extremism was approved at the 30th meeting of the Council of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO RATS) in Tashkent, UzTAG reports.
“The meeting participants also agreed on the report of the SCO RATS Council to the Council of Heads of States of the SCO on the activities of the SCO RATS in 2016, realization of the program of cooperation of the SCO member states in combating terrorism, separatism and extremism for 2016-2018 and earlier adopted decisions of the SCO RATS Council. The SCO draft convention on countering extremism was approved”, the statement by the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan says.
The meeting also resulted in decisions on the joint anti-terrorist exercises, border operation of the competent bodies of the SCO member states and the Fifth Scientific and Practical Conference on Cooperation in the Sphere of Countering International Terrorism and Extremism between the SCO Member States and the SCO observer states to be held in 2017.
At the same time, the participants also agreed on the joint measures of the competent agencies of the SCO member states to counteract the challenges and threats arising from the destructive activity of religious movements recognized as extremist.
The Council also adopted a number of decisions on organizational and personnel matters, ensuring the activities of the SCO RATS Executive Committee and further developing the legal framework for cooperation of the SCO member states in their fight against terrorism, separatism and extremism.
The next regular meeting of the Council of the SCO RATS is Council was agreed to be held in China in September 2017.
