The trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan grew by almost a quarter

Almaty. August 26. Silkroadnews – Since the beginning of 2016 the foreign trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan has increased by 23.7% compared to the same period of last year, KyrTAG writes.

«In 2015 the Kyrgyz Republic's foreign trade turnover with Turkmenistan amounted to $10.2 million having increased by 4.1% on 2014. During January-May 2016 it made $5.2 million, thus, having grown 23.7% on a year-on-year basis», Minister of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic Arzybek Kozhoshev said at the meeting of the Kyrgyz-Turkmen intergovernmental commission.

The minister proposed the Turkmen side to cooperate jointly in the field of organic farming.

The meeting participants noted the need to boost the signing of intergovernmental agreements on avoidance of double taxation and explore the issue of investments encouragement and protection agreement between the two governments.

«Air communication opening would become another important factor in development of trade and economic cooperation between two countries», minister added.

This meeting is carried out on the eve of the President of Turkmenistan's visit to Kyrgyzstan hosting the Second World Nomad Games in Issyk-Kul on September 3-8.
