The UK ratified the protocol agreement on a zone free of nuclear weapons in Central Asia

Almaty. March 4. Silkroadnews - In the United Kingdom enetered the force protocol on security assurances to the agreement on the zone free of nuclear weapons in Central Asia, reports KazTAG citing the press service of the British Embassy in Uzbekistan.
"Ratification of the Protocol reaffirms its commitment to the principles and objectives of the UK to establish nuclear-weapon-free zones, as well as our recognition that guarantees that nuclear weapons play an important role in preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and strengthening regional and international security", - said the British Ambassador to Uzbekistan George Edgar, who was quoted by the press service of the embassy.
The treaty was signed on 8 September 2006 in Semipalatinsk by representatives of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan and came into force in March 2009. The agreement included a protocol under which the nuclear powers states granted legally binding security assurances to States Parties zone ( obligation not to use and not to threat to use nuclear weapons against them).
In May 2014 the world's first Protocol to the Treaty on the zone free of nuclear weapons in Central Asia was signed at the same time by all nuclear powers-parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) - Britain, China, Russia, USA and France. In addition in November 2014 followed by the UK, France ratified the Protocol.
