Almaty. October 22. Silkroadnews - US, UK, France and Germany on Wednesday sent a letter to the Sanctions Committee of the UN Security Council with the requirement to take "appropriate action" in response to the launch of ballistic missile by Iran on October 10, reports Trend.
"In the document, test is called a violation of Security Council resolutions, as launched missile theoretically capable of carrying a nuclear warhead. And they believe that "this information will help the committee in carrying out its responsibility to verify and take appropriate action in response to the violation of Security Council resolutions", - says the publication.
The US delegation on Wednesday also convened a closed meeting of the Security Council, which raised the issue of Tehran's alleged violation of the sanctions regime. Following the meeting, the United Kingdom Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Matthew Rycroft, told reporters that the decision on possible action against Iran will be taken after the Security Council experts will study the information transmitted to them.
He did not specify how the western countries accepted the proposal of other members of the Security Council, in particular Russia and China. Meanwhile, the Russian delegation was critical to the finding of a violation of the sanctions, noting that similar conclusions "must be based on very professional study of the question".
Recall, last week, Tehran announced the successful testing of a new ballistic missile, code-named "Imad". As the Minister of Defense of Iran Hossein Dehgan, it represents "a new generation of ballistic missiles, which have been fully developed in Iran."
