Almaty. October 25. Silkroadnews - There is a room for moderate Taliban in government of Afghanistan as long as they renounce violence, U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said, the Afghan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG) reports.
“Clearly, we have to continue to fight against the Taliban, against others, in order for them to understand they will never win a military victory,” the “Associated Press” quoted Tillerson said.
He stressed, there are “moderate voices among the Taliban, voices that do not want to continue to fight forever.” And added, the U.S. is ready to engage them in the process of reconciliation and involvement in the Afghan government work as long as they renounce violence and terrorism.
In addition, Tillerson criticized Pakistan and again called on Islamabad to work harder fighting against militants who had found safe haven on Pakistani territory.
To remind, on Monday, the U.S. Secretary of State visited Kabul with an unannounced visit and held talks with Afghanistan’s president Ashraf Ghani and Prime Minister Abdullah Abdullah.
