Beijing. May 30. Silkroadnews - Deputies of the Afghan parliament said the fake national identity cards have been distributed to participate in the upcoming elections, the Afghan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG) reports.
Deputies said that this process paved the way for a large-scale fraud, which will lead the country to a crisis.
“Thousands of fake Tazkiras have been distributed in Kabul City. The country is in a critical situation and will collapse if the issue is not prevented,” the agency cited MP Daud Kalakani, Ariana News wrote.
MP Ghulam Farooq Majroh also notes that the irregular distribution of national identity cards can create a lot of challenges. Foreign citizens may apply for Tazkira and those accused of crimes may apply for another Tazkira.
In the meantime, speaker of the lower house of parliament Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi stressed the need to use new approaches for the upcoming elections. “The legitimacy of the election is partially under question. While the extension of voters’ registration timeline and distribution of Tazkira is a fundamental need but the issues related to these processes have not been resolved yet,” he said.
The lawmakers also warned that if the government does not create the required environment to hold the elections, the results will not be acceptable.
