Title nation increases by 10% to reach over 4 mln people in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek. April 7. Silkroadnews - The number of ethnic Kyrgyz increased by 10% within the last 5 years and reached 4 mln 99 thousand people, as the national statistics committee reports.
Since 2009 census, Kyrgyzstan population has increased by 8% to reach 5 mln 663 thousand people by 2014. At the same time, the number of ethnic Kyrgyz increased by 10% within the last 5 years and reached 4 mln 99 thousand people. This means that ethnic Kyrgyz now make up 72.6% of the total population in Kyrgyzstan.
Uzbek are the largest minority in Kyrgyzstan. Their share of country’s population increased by 14% to reach 816.2 thousand people. Russians are the second largest minority. Their share has decreased by 1% with 375.4 thousand Russians living in the country. Among other minorities are 63 thousands of Dungans, 51 thousands of Uighurs, 49 thousands of Tajiks, 40 thousands of Turks and 33.4 thousand of Kazakhs.
