"I think that at this summit we will agree to declare 2016 - the year of education in the CIS", - Putin said at a meeting of the Council of Heads of CIS member states in Minsk on Friday.
At the same time Putin noted that relies on the support of the "Russian initiative".
"Its implementation is designed to facilitate the further development of humanitarian ties and convergence of educational standards, academic mobility in the CIS", - says the president of Russia.
According to him, the Russian education system is becoming more open to partners in the Commonwealth.
