To implement the CASA-1000 project, Tajikistan needs more than $300 million

Dushanbe. July 24. Silkroadnews - To implement the Tajik part of the CASA-1000 project, which provides for the transmission of electricity from Central Asia to South Asia, Tajikistan needs more than $300 million, according to the Tajik news agency (TajikTA).
Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic Tajikistan Usmonali Usmonzoda says that these funds are needed for the construction of two lines.
"Lines AC 115 km - from Regar to "Sangtuda-1" and DC 116 km from Sangtuda to the border with Afghanistan", - he said.
Also it is neccessary to set in the republic AC-DC converting substation. It is powerful and expensive equipment, which costs $150 million. Funding issues for CASA-1000 project is decided only in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
"Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan have to find money from other sources. WB allocated Tajikistan a grant of $45 million in addition they will receive $7.5 million from the U.S. government through USAID", - shared U.Usmonzoda.
W. Usonzoda mentioned that currently govement is negotiating with other international financial institutions.
