To prevent cross-border conflicts Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan will strengthen the local authorities’ work

Almaty. February 6. Silkroadnews – Meeting between chairman of the State Border Service of Kyrgyzstan Mirbek Kasymkulov and first deputy of chairman, commander of the Border Troops of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Tajikistan, Radzhabali Rahmonali was carried out in a town of Zhashtyk, Leilek district of Batken oblast, KyrTAG informs.

“To prevent conflicts among people living within the border areas on issues regarding water and land use, economic and other activities, the parties agreed to strengthen work by the local authorities”, the statement by the department of public relations and mass media of the State Border Service (SBS) of the Kyrgyz republic says.

The heads of delegations noted the need for a variety of activities to involve young people of two states and also discussed the prospects of further cooperation.

The talks’ primary focus was on the joint measures taken to prevent and resolve the conflicts arising at the state border.

Following the meeting the border representatives of Batken (Kyrgyzstan) and Sogd (Tajikistan) regions have been entrusted to develop and adopt a joint action plan to localize conflict situations on the border. The two republics’ border patrol units are instructed to strictly adhere to a line of conduct on the state border.
