Almaty. November 7. Silkroadnews – U.S. President Donald Trump asked Congress to allocate another $4 billion to the Pentagon to counter the threat from the DPRK, the Afghan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG) reports.
U.S. President Donald Trump asked Congress on Monday for $4 billion to support missile defense to counter the threat from North Korea. Another $0.7 billion is required to repair damage to Navy ships after recent fatal collisions, and $1.2 billion for increased troop levels in Afghanistan and the administration’s South Asia strategy. The funds are supposed to be transferred within the framework of the amendment to the 2018 federal budget.
Additional resources in the context of implementing the president’s strategy for South Asia include allocation of funds for deployment of 3.5 thousand U.S. troops to Afghanistan and urgent needs and support for the capabilities of special units.
To remind, on August 21, Trump, addressing the nation, announced a new American strategy for Afghanistan and South Asia. Washington will no longer report the number of its military contingent in the republic, nor announce plans to start or complete military operations, and the U.S. armed forces will now concentrate on fighting terrorism.
