Beijing. March 13. Silkroadnews - The U.S. President Trump decided to extend sanctions for Iran imposed due to the development of ballistic missiles, support of international terrorism and violations of human rights for another year, the Iranian Telegraph Agency (IrTAG) reports citing the statement the press service of the White House made on Monday.
According to the text, the republic should restrict works on enrichment of uranium and halt abandon the production of nuclear weapons. On January 16, 2016, the United States lifted nuclear-related sanctions on Iran. Although these measures significantly changed our sanctions posture, comprehensive non-nuclear-related sanctions with respect to Iran remain in place, Trump said.
“Actions and policies of the Government of Iran, including its development of ballistic missiles, support for international terrorism, and human rights abuses continue to pose an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States,” the U.S. President noted, adding that for this reason, the so-called national emergency - sanction regime - is to continue in effect beyond March 15, 2018.
A due letter from the President was also sent to the Congress.
